Most of our lives we are taught to silence pain. But what if instead, we looked at pain as a communication tool of our bodies? Instead of pushing it away, what if we were supported to be with it and listen to what it is asking of us? Imagine the birthing process; instead of quieting the ebbs and flows of labour with medications, what if we had the hand of a Doula to hold? What if in the depths of pain, we reached for a hand, instead of a pill?!
So many of us are longing for healing relationships, and in the world of massage therapy we witness people arrive in pain and looking for solutions. But, there is no quick fix, we can't eliminate pain quickly. We can only move from each wave to the next. I believe that is why we need community partnerships in healing. The balance may only arrive for a sweet second before we fall off our boards and are again under water. Engaging in massage, acupuncture, or yoga along the way make it so much easier to get back in the surf!
So, to me, that doesn't look like I am a therapist. But instead; a fellow surfer riding the waves of life. I am a woman dancing in the world of energy healing. I get to bare witness to you riding the waves and supporting you when you crash. I play with the tools of massage therapy, hot jade stones, energy medicine, osteopathic techniques and most recently, acupuncture. The magic that comes out of the quiet restful state of being... that's the exciting stuff. Because sometimes you just need to float in the water before jumping back in the surf.
A moment of being before getting back to the doing.
